Energy Services
Energy Auditing
WEC provide Energy Audit services for all types and sizes of buildings.
The energy audit will assess your existing energy usage and identify where energy and money can be saved through a variety of means. The actual savings achievable will be determined during the auditing process and presented in the final report.
What does the Commercial Energy Audit cover?
Your Commercial Energy Audit will include the following:
- Assessment of the annual energy usage
- Benchmarking current energy usage against industry best practice
- Providing an independent electricity tariff analysis to ensure that optimum value for money is being achieved
- Undertaking a detailed survey of the building to assess the condition of the existing building fabric and building services
- Review the existing heating/cooling system and control strategy to ensure that the system is operating efficiently
- Identifying the impact of existing staff activities and behavioural changes on energy consumption
- Assess the technical and economical feasibility of installing alternative technologies such as wind, biomass, and solar water heating
- Assess the viability of installing heat recovery systems
- Provide a cost benefit analysis for all energy saving recommendations that are identified
- Deliver a final report which will highlight the findings of the survey and feasibility studies
Energy Awareness Training
In addition to the Building Energy Audit outlined above we can also provide energy awareness training for staff. This includes the following:
- Circulate staff questionnaire to gauge staff attitude to energy usage
- Identify the impact of existing staff activities on energy consumption
- Suggest behavioural changes to help save money
- Deliver an energy awareness presentation to staff
Our recommendations will include No Cost and Low Cost solutions as well as solutions which require greater financial investment. Savings will start to be made using no/low cost methods that can subsequently fund higher capital cost items. We can also provide advice on grant funding and other financing options for all our energy recommendations.
Building energy ratings (BER) certification
A Building Energy Rating (BER) and advisory report is to be supplied by the owner to a prospective buyer or tenant of any commercial propertywhen constructed, sold or rented from Jan 1 2009. The BER is intended to give prospective buyers and tenants information about the energy performance of buildings. the BER also gives builders/developers and vendors/landlords, an incentive to upgrade the energy performance of the building by giving visible credit to superior standards.
The BER must be accompanied by an "Advisory Report" setting out recommendations for cost-effective improvements to the energy performance of the building. However there will be no legal obligation on vendors or prospective purchasers to carry out the recommended improvements.
BER CertificateThe building owner must engage a registered BER assessor to carry out assessments. The BER assessor follows the national calculation methodology (NEAP) to calculate the BER and generate the advisory report. The assessment is submitted for publication on the national BER register.
The BER is an indicator of energy performance covering energy use for space heating and cooling, water heating, ventilation and lighting, calculated on the basis of standard operating patterns. It is accompanied by a CO2 emissions indicator
